A pleasant hike on good trails. A moderate level of fitness is required for the sustained steep climb.
The Panorama Route is a popular day hike in the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. This circular route traverses the skyline at the back of the Jonkershoek Valley and offers superb views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Following well used trails, the Panorama Route is ideal for a relaxed (but demanding) family outing. Expect to see brilliant fynbos displays, spectacular mountain vistas, dramatic waterfalls and crystal clear streams.
The route can be tackled in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction depending on the group’s preference for walking up or down the steep Kurktrekkersnek pass, and the more gradual route to Bergriviernek. Excellent swimming opportunities exist at the base of Kurktrekkersnek.
Shorter out and back walks to the waterfalls or to Bergriviernek for beautiful views towards Franschhoek are also worthwhile outings.
